Raise your kids without raising your voice

Raise your kids without raising your voice

When we use anger to teach a lesson, we are always teaching the basics of disrespect. We’re effectively telling our children,
“When a person has something really important to say, then it’s okay for him to lose his own dignity and to ignore the dignity of the others. Emotional or verbal abuse is acceptable, as long as you message is important.”
Is that what you want to teach your children? Such a lesson will guarantee them a life of troubled relationships. Raging at people is always costly, no matter how “justified” it is. Sometimes the damage is beyond repair. Think carefully before you fall back into the “let ‘em have it” routine. Besides harming them, you can very well harm yourself: may parents have lost their children this way.
