What is the reason behind our efforts of all these recycling programs? Do we really think recycling the bottles and newspaper really save the earth?

When we say Styrofoam is not bio-degradable, we go back to kill mountains of trees to make them into paper cups. Paper cups that have polyethylene lining.

A lot of us rinse our soft drink bottles before recycling. The bottles are then washed again in the recycling plant.

The whole recycling thing tells us they found a way to be more environment, the issues were minimized and we can continue to consume - without any guilty feeling.

More things being brought to the recycling plant. More stuff be re-created from the recycled material. But most of the products we are buying are not manufactured from 100% recycled material and most products are not 100% recyclable. At the end we are still creating as much if not more disposal in the dump sites.

Not getting a plastic bag from the grocery store may sound like a good start. But take a look at those products we buy from the stores, those packaging are all waste. Our modern life of convenience and hygiene creates all these excessive rubbish. I don't know how to save the planet, may be like so many other things the root of all the problems is us being here.
