Echoing..

Sometimes some dialogs keep echoing in my mind. One of them is this.

Joyce (Kate Capshaw) to Nick (Michael Douglas) in Black Rain (1989): ''A love-hate relationship can last a very long time.''

Some people think love and hate is so extreme that they can not be expressed towards the same subject. Nobody is perfect. I don't believe in pure love with a person. Pure in the sense of no other emotions being mixed in between. I love you but loving you is not the only thing I feel about you. More than likely, I hate some parts of the whole you. To love means accepting you being you and live with the part of you that isn't ideal. Doesn't mean I don't hate you, things I dislike is left unlike. It means I love you and hate you at the same time, but I love you more than I hate you.

As a friend, I think what I love about you outweigh what I don't. There is something in you I hate, like that part of me you dislike exists.

Of course, things can get pretty twisted. Just by looking at the title of a Erasure's song "I love to hate you" can tell one or two.
He who wants a rose must respect the thorn.
I think we just need to admit our true emotions and we will live better.

Crime

After many, many years of quiet and routine life, I finally landed in this situation when I have not much control over my own schedule after I have my first baby.

Depending on your passion of sleep, it can be quite a difficult change from a straight 7-8 hour undisturbed sleep every night to broken sleeping segments through the day. If the old Christian saying was right, then sex was equal to the original sin, so the ones who committed should be prosecuted and punished. What's more torturous than keeping an adult up at night when one wants to rest and make him drowsy when he struggle to stay up during the day.

Some are having sex without considering the results or without trying to be responsible, that may be selfishly ignorant. Honestly, we are talking about possible life or death (abortion) here, it's quite a crime regardless of the religious implications. Some imitate the more family-oriented species in the animal kingdom, by being more considerate and thoughtful, plan and build the nest ahead of time. If having baby, like sex, is crime, this is organized crime.

Organized or not, one is not very likely to escape from the consequences. Since it is nothing less than a serious crime, the sentence is: no sleep for the next 18 years.
