Capote - In cold blood

What is civilization? What is the true nature of human being?

Are we deep down a bunch of wild animals pretending we are capable of self-discipline? Are we not hurting each others just because we are trained on the consequences and punishments? If we are left unmonitored, do we still have any dignity or integrity?

What is that dark side of our mind? What about those dark fantasies that has been with us since we were very little? Is this basically the animal instinct living within us? Will people be truthful if lies can never be uncovered? Will people predates if there is a prey in front of them?

We seem to have a set of code of conducts agreed on for the societies and the relationships between the nations. The common ground is based on advantages and punishments. Civilization means the opposite of barbarity. Ironically, the civilized world has been mostly spread by invasion. Look at the news, the culture, the entertainment, and people around you, barbarianism is really the trend.

What makes us different that animals is: we know how to invent a deceptive word to cover our tracks.
